SOCHI WINTER OLYMPICS

It's the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics! And one of the things I love about it is not just the games, the athletes, their dreams, competitiveness, passion, determination, but like the Summer Olympics, the commercials! TV commercials in sports events like these are as big as the events themselves. They are a competition in itself, superbly produced and directed, astronomically financed. A show, a complete story in 30 seconds or a minute, they're entertainment by themselves. That's how they get a spot on TV. And some of them present their products with so much depth, so much wisdom, sometimes you forget what's being advertised, and instead, remember the message and the inspiration.

Like just a few minutes back, I was in and out of the living room, and when I came back, there were 2 commercials one after another, so fast, I didn't even remember the products, except the messages at the end -

LIFE WELL PLANNED

LIFE WELL LIT

These were 2 different commercials, but see how similar their last lines were. I think the first was about life insurance, and the  next one was about sunglasses. See how much alike were their words, as if the companies eavesdropped on each other. Amazing! 

These is what great commercials are made of. They gooooo beyond their products, you remember the message, the words. And if you're so awe-struck, beyond just being entertained, sometimes they can really make you stop... look at yourself, look into yourself, and pause... and self-reflect for awhile. There's something there that'll get you. 

Sooner or later, when the commercials are back, you'll recognize them this time - the product, the company - and you'll know why they're great! Yes, it's all in the marketing and those that make it big time in big events like the Olympics are simply sensuous and sensational!!
